Peridot, pronounced as pair-uh-doe, is the gemstone form of Olivine, a mineral belonging to the forsterite-fayalite family. It is composed of magnesium iron silicate, with the color variations determined by the amount of iron present. While Olivine is a plentiful mineral, finding high-quality Peridot gems, especially in larger sizes, is quite rare. The color spectrum of Peridot ranges from bright yellow-green and lime to pure green, deep olive, or brownish-green, with the most valuable being a dark olive-green hue. Typically, Peridot is a transparent gemstone with excellent clarity and is commonly cut into faceted shapes. Notably, there is no known treatment to enhance the color or clarity of Peridot, and it is not subjected to heat treatments or other enhancements. However, there have been reports of unethical practices where producers use metal foiling to improve stability or coat lighter stones.

Referred to as "the extreme gem" by the Gemological Institute of America, Peridot is a gemstone born from fire and brought to the surface through earthquakes and volcanic activities. Alongside Diamond, it is one of the only two gems formed not within the Earth's crust but in molten rock of the upper mantle. While some Peridot originates from Earth, certain crystals of Peridot have extraterrestrial origins and are found in rare pallasite meteorites, remnants of the birth of our solar system that formed around 4.5 billion years ago. Moreover, Olivine, the basic form of Peridot, has been discovered in comet dust brought back by the Stardust robotic space probe in 2006, found on the moon, and detected on Mars by NASA's Global Surveyor. Ancients believed, with reasonable accuracy, that Peridot was ejected to Earth by solar explosions and carried its healing properties.

Peridot possesses numerous benefits for attuning to and regulating various aspects of one's life, including physical, mental, emotional, and intellectual cycles. It aids in dissolving negative patterns and stagnant vibrations that hinder personal growth and success. By working with Peridot, one can remove these blockages swiftly, opening the heart and mind to receive from the Universe with grace and gratitude.

As a stone of transformation, Peridot is particularly valuable for individuals recovering from tobacco or inhalant dependencies and other addictions.

Furthermore, it acts as a wounded healer stone, guiding and facilitating healing processes for others who are going through challenges that the user has already overcome.

Peridot is also known for its ability to amplify Reiki energies.

After treatments involving heat or warmth, such as sweat lodges, hot rocks, or saunas, holding Peridot immediately afterward can continue the beneficial effects.
Peridot is highly beneficial in discharging emotional issues that impact the physical body. Placing it over the Solar Plexus helps relax and release nervous tension, often referred to as "butterflies."

It also alleviates fear, guilt, anxiety, impatience, heaviness of heart, and destructive emotions like jealousy and self-doubt stemming from past relationship betrayals when placed over the Heart Chakra.

Using Peridot can aid in locating lost or misplaced physical items and assist in the quest for spiritual enlightenment and knowledge. Wearing Peridot set in gold promotes peaceful sleep, particularly for those experiencing recurring nightmares related to evil spirits, murders, or sexual attacks.

Peridot can be worn or carried as a talisman to attract luck and ward off personal darkness. It adds charm and eloquence to presentations, evoking positive and helpful responses from usually uncooperative individuals. Additionally, it enhances profitability in trades and serves as a natural protection against envy, gossip, and deception.
Psychologically, Peridot stimulates clarity of thought and fosters happiness and contentment in one's life. It empowers individuals to detach their minds from external influences and have confidence in their own abilities. By looking inward for guidance and accessing the wisdom of the higher mind, Peridot initiates independence and assertiveness without aggression. It allows individuals to accept the world as it is while actively working towards transforming it into the reality they desire.

Yellow-green or Olive Peridot combines the growth-promoting green rays with the enlightening yellow rays of sunshine. It signifies a time of development, strength, and maturity, enhancing receptiveness to new ideas and meanings while illuminating the path to wisdom and understanding. This variation of Peridot acts as a talisman for the pursuit of knowledge and enlightenment. In lighter shades, Olive Peridot provides the perseverance required in seeking understanding of the natural universe and overcoming mental challenges with deep concentration, determination, and endurance. In deeper tones, Olive

Peridot serves as a "Study Stone," assisting in the long journey toward higher levels of understanding and awareness. It excels in achieving goals that demand unwavering commitment and lifelong dedication, emphasizing steady development and profound devotion to one's life purpose.
