Gamal Wood with Blown Glass

The Gamal Tree grows all over the Islands of Indonesia. We use the Gamal Trees from the Eastern side of Bali. The main uses are for feeding the goats and buffalo of that region. We recycle the fallen tree trunks and branches by cutting and polishing them into slabs. We use the root sections for our hand blown glass bowls.

Each root base is cut cleaned and kiln dried. Then an Indonesian Artisan hand blows and fires a glass vessel to perfectly form onto each base. The fired glass takes the unique shape of the root base and becomes one. The glass is then dipped and cooled into water to solidify it's unique shape. Each piece is truly a work of art. We purchase these Gamal Roots from the farmers in the area to help them economically.
